Introduction of Journal of Tea Science
The Journal of Tea Science was established in August 1964, approved by the Publicity Department, CCCPC. Its title was inscribed by Zhu De, the chairman of CCCPC. It was discontinued during the Cultural Revolution in 1966, and it was reissued in August 1984, approved by the State Scientific and Technological Commission. Researcher Chen Zongmao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, serves as the director of the editorial board. The Journal of Tea Science is sponsored by the China Tea Science Society and the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, edited and published by the editorial office of the Journal of Tea Science. It is the only one of Chinese core journals in the field of tea science that is included in the core library of the Chinese Science Citation Database.

The Journal of Tea Science is an academic journal in tea science, which can reflect the level and the development trend of tea science, and it is currently recognized as a first-level academic journal (first-level journal) in China. Since 1989, the Journal of Tea Science has been repeatedly rated as an excellent academic journal by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the China Association of Agricultural Science Societies. Since 2005, the Journal of Tea Science has successively won the first prize of the Outstanding Scientific and Technological Journals of the Zhejiang Provincial Society of Editology for Scientific and Technological Periodicals. In 2016, the Journal of Tea Science was awarded the special prize of the Outstanding Scientific and Technological Journals. In 2015, the Journal of Tea Science was supported by the Project of Excellent Sci-tech Journals of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology (2015-2017), and the academic quality of the journal was improved. In the 2016 annual check and review carried out by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Journal of Tea Science was awarded the title of Excellent Grade Periodical Publication. The Journal of Tea Science has long been included in the British CAB Abstracts database, the American Chemical Abstracts (CA) database and the domestic Chinese Science Citation Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP) and other large databases. In 2012, the Journal of Tea Science was included in the China Biology Medicine disc (CBMdisc) in the China Biomedical Literature Service System (SinoMed). In 2014, it was rated as the Core Journal in China Agriculture and included in Chinese agricultural core periodicals. In 2015, it was rated as RCCSE China's Authoritative Academic Journal (A+) in the A Report on Chinese Academic Journals Evaluation (Wuhan University edition) (2015-2016). Various citation indicators of the Journal of Tea Science have always appeared at the top of the list. According to the report of CJCR, its impact factor reached 1.118 in 2017, ranking the second in the discipline of horticulture, and its core comprehensive evaluation score reached 65.80. According to the report of CNKI, the impact factor of the Journal of Tea Science reached 1.963 in 2017, and the Academic Journal Clout Index (CI value) reached 369.899. All citation indicators reached a record high.
At present, the Journal of Tea Science is a bimonthly publication, published in the middle of even month, with a book size of 210 mm×285 mm.
The content of research reports includes tea plant cultivation, tea plant genetics and breeding, tea plant pest control, tea processing, tea biochemistry, tea beverages, tea machinery, tea technology and economy, tea history and culture, comprehensive utilization of tea, medical and health care, etc. The main readers are tea science researchers, teachers and students in colleges and universities, tea technicians, tea managers and decision makers.
